80 years of the Lincoln Continental

It’s been 80 years since the Lincoln Continental first appeared in Lincoln’s showrooms to much acclaim. Since then, the name has been slapped on a variety of vehicles, some more noteworthy than others. Nevertheless, it’s worth taking a quick tour of Lincoln’s longest-lived, and most fondly remembered, nameplate.

I currently own a 1956 Mark II and a 1971 Mark III; two of the nicest Continental’s, and Lincoln Continental’s made by Ford. Am thinking about selling the Tennessee Mark II as I don’t have time to drive it.

private message me if interested.

Inaccurate information as to 61-67. The 65-67 are a slightly different body style (larger) and use a Lincoln 462 engine, not the 430.

No mention of the Mark VIII (1993-98), the immediate successor to the Mark VII? And no photo of the 1982-87 Continental sedan?

Recapture the “eloquence”? Not very eloquent, that. Try “elegance”.
