Terminology: Pickup vs. Truck

#1

I understand that many car-folks will use the terms “pickup” and “truck” interchangeably, however, I grew up with the understanding that Trucks were large vehicles used to pull trailers and pickups were smaller, utilitarian vehicles with a bed to put things in.

Perhaps it has to do with my upbringing around farm equipment in America’s Breadbasket, but, to me, the terms describe two very different vehicles.

Does anyone else have similar thoughts on the subject? Or is this purely a difference in regional terminology?

kinda like soda vs pop. Either or even a combination of the two. It all depends on the lingo of your region, like an accent.
